I've tracked drums direct onto the SSD of my Air in a pinch before.
Would've been 12 tracks for 5 to 6 minutes at a time. I wouldn't claim
that it didn't break a sweat, but it coped. It's a slightly lower spec
than Orio's (Core I5 and a 128 GB SSD), I'd say it was the 4GB RAM
that saved the day in that instance. Also found those Apple Firewire
to Thunderbolt adapters to be about as reliable as a chocolate teapot
and I'm not the only one, so take spares if you go that route. If I
was buying again, I'd almost definitely go for the Mini Server over
the Air. Way more power for the price and I like the idea of having
two selfcontained drives in something so small.
