Hey guys,
This is obviously a huge issue for all of us, having a control surface.
Has anyone thought of putting up a list of links and model numbers for
good accessible control surfaces?
I know for me this would be very helpful.
You can spend anywhere from a thousand to 5 grand or more on a control
surface.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jed

Once again a lot of you guys are confusing Avid’s use of the words “Not
Officially Supported” with won’t work. There is a big difference between not
officially supported and won’t work. Not supported just means they don’t
thoroughly test it with new PT version themselves anymore and you will get
limited if any support if you called their support line. Which if you don’t
have a support plan is a moot point anyways. When they list it as doesn’t work
is when it won’t work with newer versions of pro tools.

Hi, I also have a Digi 003 with the moving fading controls that I would be
willing to sell if anyone is interested as I will want something that is
supported threw at least the next three versions or so of Pro Tools and if
possible something that also will allow me to connect it to my windows
system and record using programs that blind people use on the windows
side of things. I was hearing a lot of good things about the Artist
control surfaces and the new USB interfaces but don't want to lose any
inputs or outputs. What is a good USB audio interface that has the same
amount of inputs and outputs as the Digi 003? I don't mind getting one
that just works on the mac but would like something that works on both
systems so I can take it around and use it different places with different
systems. Nick Gawronski

The 003 is still supported. There will come a time when it's not
officially supported but will still work but will not be tested with
subsequent versions of Pro Tools. At this time, I certainly wouldn't buy
a new one but you can still pick up a used one for considerably less than
what it sold for new. Slau

But is it really a good idea to buy a 003 now seeing that it probably
will be obsolete come v13? According to how the releases have been

Does the Digidesign 003 not work with PT12? It has 8 ins, 4
preamps, jog wheel, two headphone jacks with separate volume knobs
and 8 motorized faders as well as fader flip mode. Like most all in

week, but you can expand the converters via light pipe.

Hello, I know this is a old thread. But could not figure

controller would you recommend for a beginner? I am
getting ready to buy ProTools 12. I am currently using a

one terabyte hard drive. I am looking for something that
will be easy to use, also, will be able to input drums
microphones for my drum set any recommendations would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks note: looking at a price range
from $700-$1500.

There are 8 rows of 18 keys and as far as I know

You are confusing the Hot Key Metrix with the
Editor Keys pro Tools keyboard. The Editors Key Pro

the Pro Tools hotKeys printed on each key along
with the the normal letters of the keyboard. Its
basically a cheat sheet for a sighted person so
they won’t have to remember all the keyboard
shortcuts.
The hot key matrix is a controller that only has
buttons and each of pro tools functions are
assigned to a button so they can be done in a
single button press. i think the hot key matrix has
something like 145 or something buttons on it.

Not quite a control serfice but almost, any of
you using or used a Hotkey Matrix before?
As I understand it's basically a keyboard and all
keys have dedicated functions in PT, so there's no
key with 2 or more functions by using modifier
keys etc. I'm just wondering if it will be useful
and whether it will be possible to memorise the
layout of all keys.
