Hi Penny - I'm wondering which method you are using to move between tracks, I suspect that you might well be pressing the back/forward keys, either side of the stop button, if so, then these will only move you to the next gap in the recording, and not necessarily the next track, though sometimes it might well be the next track, depending on how you've got the "insert a marker when silence is detected" options set.
The record/pause button does not insert a new track, only the heading button will do this. The 4 and 6 keys are the ones to use when wanting to move between actual tracks.
