Furore In Parliament over Government�s Support for United Nation�s Health

Parliament was in an uproar last night over its government�s extensive
funding of United Nation�s health initiatives. The furore came after a
damning United Nations report demonstrated that, effectively, all
international health research had been put to waste. The World Health
Organisation�s own report, Plans for Viable and Successful Long Term
Health Care, shows the total wastage of research funding from preventative
medical programs. The net effect of all government health spending has been
demonstrated to be zero; there is little hope of change in the near future.
World Health Organisation officials expressed disappointment at the
findings of their recent report. It paints the most damning picture yet of
the challenges for a viable world health strategy. The report conceded
that, despite the enormous worldwide effort of doctors, rescue workers and
other medical and health professionals the global death rate remains
constant at 100 %. WHO had been hoping to find that the dramatic advances
in technology and drugs over the last twenty years had created an
environment where the oldest medical scourge of mankind had finally been
tackled with positive results.
Death, a metabolic affliction causing a total shutdown of all life
functions, has long been considered humanity�s number one health concern.
Responsible for 100 percent of all recorded fatalities worldwide, the
condition has no cure. �I was really hoping what with all those new
radiological treatments, rescue helicopters, aerobics TV shows and what
have you , that we might at least make a dent in it this year� said WHO�s
Director General Dr. Gernst Bladt.
The report discounts this a possibility , at least for the near future.
�Unfortunately, it would appears that the death rate will remain constant
and total, as it has inviolably been since the dawn of time.� The Director
General said that this should not cause his people to give up hope. �Our
efforts will remain unabated� was his personal assurance.
Some however, are suggesting that the high mortality rate represents a
massive failure on the part of the United Nations planners. �The inability
of doctors and scientists to adequately address this issue of death is
nothing less than a scandal� said the Australian Opposition�s Shadow
Health Minister Marcia Gretto. Hinting at a personal understanding of the
subject matter Gretto scowled, �Do you have any idea what a full blown case
of death looks like? Well, I do, and believe me , it�s not a pretty thing.
In prolonged cases , total decomposition of the patient is the result�.
Gretto has long maintained that the government had been using the wrong
methodology in combating death. �This report confirms what we have been
saying. The government�s efforts, in following United Nations policies,
simply have not been concerted enough. They are tackling all the wrong
areas and issues.�
Gretto detailed the proposals of the Wasserbaum report. Death, the expert
report states, affects not only the dead, but the non-dead as well. �Those
who suffer from death can be highly traumatised by it, often so severely
that it kills them,� noted therapist Eli Wasserbaum concluded in the
report. In the most serious cases of death , Wasserbaum explained, the
trauma inflicted upon the victims may continue through their remaining,
though generally quite short, lives. �Thus� Wasserbaum said, �the vicious
cycle of death trauma continues indefinitely.�
� Everybody talks about death,� Gretto thundered, �but nobody seems to
actually be doing anything about it. We have the answers but we don�t have
the power. When we are in government this will all change. We will stop
molly coddling death like the present government�. Explaining the solution
Gretto concluded that �the more focused initiatives of our party are the
only solution�.
Gretto suggested ,again, that the government had abrogated its
responsibility in simply bowing to United Nations initiatives. � We must
have change now : what about the children ?� were the words finishing,
the visibly moved, Gretto�s conference.
