aupa mattin!

I got one small-cheap and nice thinkpad from Antonios, so
i want to record from supercollider in the most light way
(with the terminal) so i do not get xruns in jackd. The
good thing about ecasound, is that I can give a name and
format to the file so I can describe it, and then would be
easier to know what it is.
I was trying recording with emacs but it tells me:
File 'recordings/SC_080619_132804.aiff' could not be opened.
'System error.'I tried to make the recordings directory but
no luck.

i always have problems with .aiff under linux because not so many programs can deal with them. maybe the file is ok but the program you use to open it cannot read aiff?. i have tons of recordings, from few years ago when i had a mac, that i want to change to wav format someday.

thanks Altern for remind me of timemachine!

;) i thikn timemachine is quite ligth. i was using before Audacity for this and it is a mess. not good for this task, probably using soundconverter. Btw. another one that could be useful for puredyne, which reminds me that i forgot to open the ticket for timemachine ...

Quoting Vincent Rioux <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

you might want to try py-jack
http://sourceforge.net/projects/py-jack/
and then write a small script in python wich:
- parses all jack ports
- find sc ones
- launch ecasound with the appropriate port

i'am currently writing something like this for xmms which
is not
completely ready yet but if you are interested just tell.

Vincent

I think you can do something like

ecasound -i $(SCPORTNAME) -o filename.wav

buuut, that said, you can do that with sc itself too.
if
you use emacs just
type C-c C-p p to get to the server panels. there is a
record button... I
guess its not the same though :)

thanks for aclarations
one question, does anybody of you know the command to

record

from straight from supercollider into ecasound?
cheers

Selon krgn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Hi Tadashi!

first of all, thanks for testing things out!
Supercollider should actually
be installed, you can verify this by opening a

terminal

and typing :
aptitude show supercollider-sclang

you can activate sclang-mode in emacs by adding
(require 'sclang)
to your ~/.emacs configuration file and running
emacs
again (or evaluating
the line from inside emacs). I shall swiftly correct

this

though... making a
ticket for this. If you run into more problems let
us
know!

Furthermore, its right now not possible to 'dock'
the
install the way the
old p:d used to be installed. This is definitely
something that we'll be
looking into though, so stay tuned ;-)

Hello,

I downloaded pure:dyne miso, and just found there's

no

SC on right-click

list view.
If I should install (or dock) p:d onto my harddrive

to

install SC,

could you teach me how to do?

Thanks in advance,

Tadashi
