you can set the the name, header and sample format prior to recording
programmatically:
s = Server.local;
s = Server.default;
s.boot;
{PinkNoise.ar(0.3).dup}.play
//prepare for recording
s.recChannels_(2) //2 channel file
s.recHeaderFormat_("WAV")
s.recSampleFormat_("float")
//then
s.prepareForRecord("/home/karsten/bla.wav")
s.record
s.pauseRecording
s.stopRecording
s.freeAll
//I think it should be possible to do flac too, if you're interested :)
