I thought it was better to use sdparm for SATA as SATA support in hdparm
was quite limited (it may have changed...)
another option is to use blktool (both IDE and SATA)
either way, it would be nice to have safe optimizations in the liveCD as
well... and to have some doc on this on the wiki too :)
