Why not Debian testing? Im sure you'll be able to install Debian on eee:what version is that download on that site? its not mentioned anywhere...http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEeePC/HowTo/Install I'm sure Debian is worth trying.http://eeepc.debian.net/debian/images/debian-eeepc.imghttp://wiki.debian.org/DebianEeePC/Status Lots of usefull stuff in this wiki, I think.
yah, but still nothing to do instantaneous.the intaller quitted with some error and advice to see the logfile when preparing the disk. so i just dropped eeebuntu on it again, the installation process was super easy and no errors. i was able to configure it so that the second ssd is /home and everything.
I'm really not much into eee things, so maybe other helping hands will appear. I'd found old IBM X31 to be more suitable for my purposes than eee (but let's just not start the flame). Debian needs little more tweaking than Ubuntu (not "so many many" things will work out of the box - this comes for a high price in Ubuntu, however most of your gear will work for sure). Debian is far more maintainable and trustworthy after you once set it up and running. Testing branch is quite good compromise between having new stuff and stable working station. If tou need rock-solid - stable branch (Lenny) will be better. It's IMHO worth spending this few moments for setup and learning and have few years of really good fun later.
no way, i had time until tomorrow to get the computer working - because do have a job and apart from that also a life which i don't want to spend on an installation of only an operating system.
