I agree that we should fix the remaining 1.1 issues before touching 1.2dev at all. Could those with knowledge of the new internals and undocumented code spend some time documenting it so that others can figure it out more quickly?
As far as public documentation goes, that is one of the areas where I think I can contribute meaningfully. My svn-fu is weak, so I don't know how to do any fancy patch making/applying or branching/merging.
