If, as things progress, you find yourself getting comfortable with a particular starting-out setup, Shabti itself provides an example of how you can set up your own customized project templates so that you can simply crank the handle and generate more fully-instantiated apps. Shabti was forked from the tesla-pylons- elixir project on Googlecode, an earlier speculative piece of work co- authored by Ben and which, with just three templates, is probably a clearer example of template customisation than the Shabti hordes.

By the way web2py was not mentioned in the list. Have you had any
chance to test it ?


I haven't tried web2py. My choice of framework was constrained by a (self-imposed) requirement for high degree of freedom of choice over approaches to storage - basically I wanted to be able to dabble with a variety of persistences other than standard RDBMS, e.g. native XML dbs (eXist) and RDF triple stores (OpenRDF)). To that end, Pylons was a natural choice for me.
