When deciding between the programming languages Python and Ruby I would go for Python. Python has a strong and stable user base with roots not only in web development. In contrast to this Ruby popularity is mainly based on RoR and its easy way to build webapps. But as the way how web application are developed is changing developers are moving over other interesting technologies. I think the Python community is a little bit more stable against the fluctuation of developers. My main concern is working with a framework that has a great online > community and actively moving forward and has lots of experienced > developers to hire from. > Again this point would be a +1 for Python IMO. In general a good programmer should be able get productive in any language and framework. But getting those ones is hard. Getting an ordinary $framework fanboy might be much easier. This would be a +1 for Django. I have a personal preference for Pyramid because of positive past > experiences with it and lack of experience with other frameworks. But this > isn't about me. I have little experience in Django I disliked that it comes with its own ecosystem of tools which rob many of the flexibility I like so much on Pyramid.
