Hi River, Out of interest why does your shading model have different naming to your animation model? At our studio when the rig is published for animation and alembic of the rig geo is published too, this is what the LookDev and Lighting artists use and ultimately gets the animated cache imported onto. This also means that the naming stays consistent and you won't have these problems.
It seems to me you are trying to overcomplicate something which would be solved if the names were consistent or is there something else you need this data for?
