Wouldn't work IIRC. US Current is rated [EMAIL PROTECTED] whereas Tony's
solution was for [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Oh yes they would in exactly the same way as UK.
240 -> 110  - OK
110 -> 240  - Not OK

... but it would need a US plug fitted, and connection to an earthed
socket (usually only in the kitchen) and an army of UK -> US converters
(8-)#

I must say I find the lack of earth in the majority of US sockets
terrible.  It is fine and safe, of course, for most ordinary stuff, but
absolutely hopeless for computer equipment.  There are two spike filters
to earth in all good filters (like Computer Cleaners).
