it should work, however the fact that "0" didn't work and all
the other errors really worries me, seems like some library or
something got damaged perhaps because of the problems you had
with memory. [repair insns per PM]

SMSQ can damage other if something goes wrong in one SMSQ partition.

Can you try qxltool to format a QXL file instead of a partition?
Check the result with qxl_fschk.

Did you upgrade to 2.2.17 kernel? I am not aware of any relevant
changes but the old 2.2.6 is obsolete in every respect.
