I wouldn't know about that. all I know is that I was told that it would

GWASS requires a 68020+, but GWASL will indeed run on all QL machines, but does not have enough of the facilities that GWASS has to assemble SMSQ/E.
 
Most, or a lot, of SMSQ/E can be assembled either by GWASS or by Qmac without any change. For the remainder it is possible to alter the source code slightly so that it too could be assembled either by GWASS and by Qmac. The choice of assembler would be governed by a simple switch.
