I've written a cgi mua. It's about as feature-full as mailx, only knows
how to deal with maildir formatted mailboxes, and is reasonably fast, even
on my development system (a DECstation w/ultrix). It is written in bourne(ish)
shell (tested with ash/pdksh/ksh88) but requires the program "uncgi". If
anyone's interested in taking a look at it (to give me hints, find bugs,
laugh at me, add features, whatever) I could make it available. Also, if
you want to see it in action, I could give out (email)accounts on my
speedy ultrix box.
I plan on adding better support for folders and sub-addresses, support for
attachments (sending and receiving), an address book, a front end to procmail
(so users can suck mail off of another pop/imap mail server) and mush-like
mail filtering. I expect (at the current rate of progress) that I will have
all of these features added within the next 8 months.
