Well, I understand the basic concepts of softlimit. My question was really: is
1.28 gigabytes a reasonable setting for this value? That just seems awfully
high to me, especially given that the default setting in the toaster is 64
megabytes (64000000 vs your 1280000000) - that’s a factor of 20 increase.
Again, unless I’ve got an off-by-a-digit issue somewhere, but I’m pretty sure
I’m reading that correctly. 64 megabytes is the recommended setting from “Life
with Qmail” and “The Qmail Handbook”, so I thought I was safe raising it to
128k, or even 160k, but over a gig seems like an awful lot. Does it really need
to be that high?
I'm using 54000000 as soft-limit on 64 bit systems; I have never had any issues
with that settings.
