 I'm completely with you. Unfortunately, there are also elements that
favour more the "search-don't-sort" approach, and find tables of contents
and indexes old-fashioned and "un-cool".

I understand this sentiment, and there has been some consideration about
this in the core team. And although it is certainly doable, I personally
feel it would be brushing qooxdoo against the fur. qooxdoo is about RIAs,
and a manual is not your prototypical RIA. I'd rather use an
off-the-shelve CMS that gives me one-push PDF generation out of the box.
And the whole thing is also about document maintenance, revision control,
managing roles, handling comments, asf. asf. I think we have better things
to do than re-inventing the wheel here.
