I also see people who think QML is cool and productive, even on the desktop.
So there. I think old-school developers will be surprised when they see that
even the traditional desktop platforms kick into higher gear and start
introducing new usage patterns that will feel strange for the old guard. Of
course you can say Windows 8's Metro, Lion's gestures (and even touch
interfaces in general) are gimmicks, but I guess then someone can also say C++
is a fad and real programmers use COBOL (this whole discussion reminds me of
when I was migrating from DOS and was hitting walls with regard to graphics
interfaces being seen as a fad - with similar arguments about performance and
efficiency - and Clipper/DBase/FoxPro with Norton Commander said to be the
only real way to use computers).
