I think that kind of information should definitely be part of the format. In particular, for analyzing historical games, the lexicon used is of great importance! Even today's games will become historical eventually. In fact, for OWL players, games played two weeks ago are already historical. :-) If you're familiar with the PGN format for chess games, you'll know that it includes a number of metadata tags. I think a common Scrabble game format could include a number of the same ones. http://www.very-best.de/pgn-spec.htm It might also be useful to define a more human-readable, non-XML format like PGN in sync with the XML format. It looks like someone (Steven Alexander?) has already started on one. http://home.teleport.com/~stevena/scrabble/alpha/comm_log.html > Libraries of famous games are common in chess programs and I've > always wanted to see the same in a Scrabble program. That is a fabulous idea! -- Michael W Thelen It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes. -- Douglas Adams Yahoo!
