Also, note that all of these leaves are maximal, so you couldn't do any better by throwing away more of the letters. For example, EEEJRR 5 is surprising. Keep EEE and RR with J? Seems odd, but ER is only 3.8, EJR is 1.5. So it's actually best to keep all 6. (Although, it's hard to imagine a scenario where you would exchange with EEERRJ and one other letter... so it's not really telling you anything too useful)

So take from it what you will. I usually try to keep CANISTER letters on my rack when I can't find a bingo and can't find a high point play, I sometimes wonder if I should keep my D or L or G or maybe O. Keep the Z? I dunno. But what I do know is how to process text data using python. These are CANISTER letter combinations that are improved by keeping ONE extra non-CANISTER tile, sorted by letter, and then by total value of the final leave. To keep the lists shorter, and since S almost always improves the value by 8 points, I left out S. This should spark some lovely debates.... especially AANQRT and AANQT.
