How did your symptoms start? I have had abnormal pain in my neck for
the last four days. At times my neck has a grinding like sound when I move my
head. I don't know if I have something pulled, or some arthritis starting,
weather/low pressure- I don't know.... but damn it hurts.

Hi, Silas...Mine is caused by syringomyelia or in simple words a Syrinx--that
is a build up of spinal fluid that can spread at different speeds -- it can
stay the same-spread very slowly or quicker in some cases. If it goes to your
brain you die, but they hate to operate on it unless a person is losing
function because the surgury is very dangerous and can leave a person worse off
than they were in some cases. I also have diabetes and both of these things
cause more and more nerve damage as time goes on. Right now I just take vicodan
when I need it and take elavil to help me sleep. Some days or better than
others---I guess that is true for us all. Hang in there and best wishes!

Hey Dan,
In this email you speak of pain, I too have just recently started having
really bad pain. My Dr. Has checked just about everything and not found
anything wrong. What is causing your pain and what do you do to try and
control it?
Thanks Silas

Naomi.....You said you and Cullen had Transverse Myelitis---Also Jim The
Owner of this Site---He also has www.Makoa.org. that deals with other issues
plus Transverse Myelitis links. Also there is another Gal on here That was
finishing a degree in college that also has Transverse Myelitis, I'm sorry but
her name slipped my mind right now due to pain and meds, I'm sure others on
here can help with her name. One more site called the QUAD LINK had a few
listed....one is a nice young girl from Israel who is very interesting..she has
a web site that shows her mouth drawn art and much more there. Dan

Dan,
I'm so sorry to hear about your syrinx. Yes, he's great to still be alive.
My Transverse Myelitis hit me instantly. I had to life symptoms(fever,
chills, diarrhea, etc.) for about four days, then while sitting at my nephew's
wedding reception. I had a terrible pain in my neck and arm and within seconds
I couldn't feel my hands and arms and within 10 minutes later, my legs gave
out. By the time I reached the hospital, I was totally paralyzed from the neck
down. After five sessions of plasmapheresis, I regained some use of my left
leg, and a little use of my left arm and hand. I am totally paralyzed on the
right side.
Who are the other people on the quad list that has Transverse Myelitis? I
only know of the one, Cullen. Hang in there until later.
