I had a chair in the 80's that the switch for the recline would fry about once a month. Of course, the manufacturer would use a high quality switch. As it turned out the switch that E&J put in was a 12 volt switch with a 4 amp fuse inline. When I went to a local garage they had a 24 volt switch used on trucks and the guy there cut off the inline fuse and replaced it with a 8 amp fuse, mostly because when he opened the motor it said it was an 8 amp 24 volt motor. A month later I gave the guy at the garage $30 out of pocket. I couldn't afford the $350 dollars that Medicare kept paying for the DME to fix it.
BTW, That wheelchair at Allegro doesn't have fuel tanks. Turbines use a lot of gas. I guess I'll just stick with my Wankel powered chair. It only does 140mph but it only needs 1.5 gallons a gas per day. peace to you all, john ----- Original Message ---- From: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [email protected] Sent: Thursday, July 17, 2008 7:48:39 PM Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] bad chair-Radio Shack Electronics Let common sense prevail. Rarely will those after market switches work as designed. Those toggle switches may all look the same on the handle, but you have to consider what is inside the body that counts. You have to consider that any replacement switch be equal in action to the original one. Best Wishes o c'mon w.........if it works, it works. do you think this w/c i'm sitting in knows where it's switch came from? you say 'rarely', well thare ya go! didn't someone post on here about invacare chairs and barbie doll cars? if someone has someone in the family that can mix and match to make it go, what difference does it make? quit making it so real and difficult! that van of your family doesn't run on gasoline either, does it? :-) best wishes, dianna <----taking my driving w/c with it's generic switch to go get some ice-cream. geezzz ________________________________ Get fantasy football with free live scoring.
