I was never a big fan of E&J and often wondered how they impressed the VA
for so many years. But that is just me. I too wonder what goes on in the
minds of some manufacturer's engineering minds when it comes to complicated
electronics in today's wheelchairs. When a product is covered by a
manufacturer's
warranty, you have to play by their rules. As a 3rd Party or 4th Party
repair station you have to follow the directions, practices and rules of your
bosses and superior when doing service and repairs. Of course, when something
goes wrong.......everything seems to go wrong and people become upset and
angry.

Bottom line, if you are happy with the results, so be it and you are a much
better person. If anything went wrong after the mechanical/electrical
change, what would you have done? Not everyone is as fortunate as you, and I
wish
they all were as fortunate.

Prototyping, has its accepted risks.
Best Wishes and continued good fortune!

I had a chair in the 80's that the switch for the recline would fry about
once a month. Of course, the manufacturer would use a high quality switch. As
it turned out the switch that E&J put in was a 12 volt switch with a 4 amp
fuse inline. When I went to a local garage they had a 24 volt switch used on
trucks and the guy there cut off the inline fuse and replaced it with a 8 amp
fuse, mostly because when he opened the motor it said it was an 8 amp 24 volt
motor. A month later I gave the guy at the garage $30 out of pocket. I
couldn't afford the $350 dollars that Medicare kept paying for the DME to fix
it.

BTW, That wheelchair at Allegro doesn't have fuel tanks. Turbines use a
lot of gas. I guess I'll just stick with my Wankel powered chair. It only does
140mph but it only needs 1.5 gallons a gas per day.

peace to you all,
john

Let common sense prevail. Rarely will those after market switches work as
designed. Those toggle switches may all look the same on the handle, but you
have to consider what is inside the body that counts.
You have to consider that any replacement switch be equal in action to the
original one.
