Yes indeed, it *can* get very warm under an electric blanket. But, I'm in Boston and skimp on heat all winter with my thermostat to 50 or less at night. No problemo under my precious blankey, though. Even set to '2' (of 10), I'm comfy as the proverbial bug in a rug. Mmmm, even this time of year (with the heat still off) it feels great as the night temps dip towards that killing frost. I get warm all over just writing/thinking about settling in under it later tonight.

I have, on the other hand, used an electric blanket to warm up my bed, but I have discovered a leave electric blanket on, even on a very low setting, I overheat to easily. I found it better just to put quite a few blankets over me. Then again, I live in Florida and what I perceived to be cold is warm by everybody else's standards. At least when it comes to winter weather. I have often wondered how much electricity those heaters suck up. Personally I have not had those heaters warmed my room too well. Old-fashioned type used to do much better, but they are extremely dangerous. I always make sure that I have an appliance module on them so I can shut them off. Take care and stay warm everyone.
