Call me PollyAnn'ish,  but I always suggest working with a physical  
therapist or certified body trainer.  Since injuries vary so greatly.. so  does 
the ability to exercise properly.  Even those without SCI, have been  known to 
over exercise and be injured.  Muscle fatigue could be an issue  and one 
has to act gradually to increase those muscle tones.  I've seen  some TENS 
units used on stomach muscles, and binders to assist those who were  trying to 
build and restore muscles.
Once you get the hang of the various types of exercises that are right for  
you... you can go on your own.
