its not belly fat, its muscle distension and gravity.

A very good point there. Also, I didn't realize the original question was about 
flattening the belly...as a former weight lifter who has a fairly good grasp on 
nutrition, I have to point out that belly fat is almost all diet (unless you're 
a 17 year old boy). :( I never found the magic trick and have one helluva quad 
belly now. lol Strengthening is always good though, as long as it done safely, 
as wheelchair pointed out.

Call me PollyAnn'ish,  but I always suggest working with a physical therapist 
or certified body trainer.  Since injuries vary so greatly.. so does the 
ability to exercise properly.  Even those without SCI, have been known to over 
exercise and be injured.  Muscle fatigue could be an issue and one has to act 
gradually to increase those muscle tones.  I've seen some TENS units used on 
stomach muscles, and binders to assist those who were trying to build and 
restore muscles.
Once you get the hang of the various types of exercises that are right for 
you... you can go on your own.
