That's the onle thing I've fiddled with. I booted from an external SCSI CD-Rom in order to install the OS, then disconnected the external drive and used the machine for a number of days. I next got an OS (fat install) installed on an external SCSI HD using a PPC, then for kicks connected that external drive (alone) to the Q630. It booted and still boots from the external HD fine, and the IDE drive shows up, mounted and accessible. I now get a blinking "?" when trying to boot with nothng connected to the external SCSI port, and the sad, dead mac when trying to boot from the external SCSI CD-Rom, even when only the CD-Rom is attatched. It still boots fine from the external SCSI HD if I only attatch that drive. I guess there's a SCSI problem AND a problem with the IDE drive, so I guess I'll have to boot from the SCSI HD and try to repair the IDE drive, but what to do about the SCSI problem? Wierd stuff to just pop up, is this a typical occurrence when one plays around too much with the external SCSI chain? I could easily expect some no-boot happennings, but to have the internal IDE drive become affected seems strange, maybe only coincidental? -Brian -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
