That error translates to a Bus Error. According to the Imperial 
College helpdesk page it's a software problem. I got something 
similar when I tried to use a hard disk that was formally in a RAID 
array in my IIci. If it did this booting from a CD-ROM it maybe a bad 
CD or damaged or not compatible with the CD software.
