I just leave my 2+2 connected to a battery conditioner which keeps it trickle charged, paid for itself the first spring when i didn't have to replace the battery.
It would all depend on how quickly the car starts, a fuel injection Zetec (if it's all standard and happy) will start within a rotation or 2 of the engine so you'd get away with a almost flat battery.
