On the remote keys the pats is inside and there is no red dot.
As long as it was external and the ecu didn't talk to the Pats module
with a comms link you should be able to bypass it.

Worst case is that PATS is essential, and I've already cut all the

The remote key doesn't have a red dot, but the (non-remote) spare
does.
So, I think it has PATS. Rats.
That means a bit more time with the wiring diagrams.
However, I suspect/hope that PATS on a diesel should be fairly
rudimentary.
It's not like it will be necessary for spark, for instance.
Just persuade the ECU to operate the starter relay, and possibly fuel
solenoid.
Starter relay looks like it can be bypassed by simply grounding the
wire.

If you've got a red dot on the black key then the keys have pats.
There will be a sensor around the ignition lock barrel, follow the wires
back from that and they will go to the PATS unit.
Worst case is leave it in and glue the key inside the sensor behind the
dash somewhere.

Still chopping of wires out of the Endura loom - getting there, but

Is there an easy way to tell if the car is fitted with PATS?
The wiring diagrams show two options, one with PATS, one without.
If it has it, the diesels were only fitted with external PATS which
isn't supposed to be too bad to bypass.
But since I don't know what a PATS unit looks like, and the car is now
full of tools and carpets, it's going to be tricky to find. I do have
red and black keys though, which might be a clue.
The reason I ask is that I have a black/yellow wire for the starter
relay coil negative side, which runs either to PATS or to earth. If
that's the only wire that PATS affects, I'll just ground it and be
done.
Are there likely to be more PATS contacts to the ECU, or just this
one?
