Hi Dan, If you're having problems with the oil filler cap presumably you have the original one with a breather hose off it? I found a low one which doesn't have a breather... just some coarse steel wool as a low grade filter and oil mist trap. It's FP630 from Burton (£5?), but they do lower looking ones with breathers as well, but at much higher cost. I can't remember what I did regarding the other end of the breather into the inlet manifold, probably just blanked it off. There isn't much oil all over the engine so it seems to work.
Regarding the cam belt cover the simple solution is to ditch it. My engine didn't have it for SVA and it was not an issue. Hope that helps on a few issues.
