Chris

I had the first road going V8 Xtreme. I fitted a standard Rover Bell housing
with a SD1 gearbox and linkage. There were 2 main modifications to the
chassis which were a small box cut in to the driver side foot well behind
the clutch pedal. This was to clear the starter motor mounting in the bell
housing. The second mod was on the seam at the back of the engine bay. It is
the horizontal one between the pedal box and battery, the lip was cut off
and welded flush above transmission tunnel. The other major mod was to
replace the standard water pump with an electric one because it wouldn't
clear the front suspension cross member. QSC did the chassis work for me so
they should have drawings. Finally at the back end I replaced the standard
2.0 Petrol diff with one from a Diesel Sierra with a lower ratio. This meant
I was running about 2800 RPM at 70 MPH.

As regards fitting the engine, I found it easier to fit the gearbox first
and then fit the engine and offer it up in the engine bay. Not ideal, but
the trying to guide the gearbox back and lift it clear of the mounting was
near impossible.

Go for it, you know you want to. :-)

Regards

Chris Fairlie

cool - just trying to guage if the ratio would match what i have. I believe
there are quite a few available.

I am still toying with the idea of sticking a V8 into my xtreme.. (I have a
v8 in the garage that is meant to be a runner that i got cheaply. i took my
pinto out last winter and tried to shoehorn the rover v8 in with a type 9
bell housing.. didn't fit! the bell housing needed to sink into the car more
and thus why quantum say you can get the chassis modded.)

thanks for the info.
