My insurance was up tomorrow so, with this continuous insurance malarkey starting to worry me, I finally got around to making some calls. I rang 2gether and told them that £100 was the figure I had in mind, from the discussion here. They didn't flinch at all and have done the job for £108.16. That's fully comp including commuting and legal cover (limited mileage). By my calculations that's 44% of the amount FJ wanted.
