It's supposed to be a common issue with the CVH engine, which has the 
starter motor behind the exhaust.  I've never had the problem on either of 
my CVH engined cars, including the turbo, which could make the issue worse.  
Ford did make a heat shield for the starter motor, but I think these are 
difficult to find.
