Have an auto choke on my 2+2 & my starting the car procedure consists of 
one pump of the throttle, turn the key & it will start immediately but I do 
then have to feather the throttle for 10 > 20 seconds until it decides to 
tick over with my input & then good to go (except for my ongoing clutch 
issue).
I'm also getting some smoke on cold start up so have purchased a set of 
valve stem seals of the top hat design which will be fitted next week.
If funds were available I would be looking for a manual choke conversion 
kit...or better still fuel injection!
