Eddie is correct in that the rubber strips are "hollow" for want of a better term. Mine fell off a couple of years ago despite being sealed with Sikaflex at either end so I got some commercial automotive double sided tape and stuck them back on again, only to find that in 10 years they had shrunk 4-5 cm whereas I cut them proud on initial fitting.
The joint between the floor and the side mouldings covered by the rubber is in fact protrudent such that you have both mouldings folding outwards to form a flat edge to butt up to each other - hence the need for the hollow cover. I do not recall any need to apply further sealant in the joints between the mouldings during the initial build as they had been joined with resin by Q Mouldings. When I went round the factory whilst I was building my H4, I recall seeing the chassis (photo now with Jim I believe?) being assembled onto the floor moulding with copious amounts of gloup to be followed by lowering the body moulding on top with further generous amounts of gloup, in both cases the mouldings self-aligning themselves onto the side tubes. This makes a good rigid body until such times as the powder coating on the tubes flakes off with rust as water can penetrate along the length of the floor moulding due to the way the drainage holes are arranged in this panel. I thought they were solid D shaped rubber with 2 strips of double sided trim tape down the back. Has anybody tried removing them and filling the remains of the joint between the body and the floor ?
