I think it comes on a roll and is cut to length.
So i expect the mould is just a shape in a lump of steel and the rubber
is extruded through it.

I had real problems with the strips that came with my kit - they had
been supplied in three parts rather than two and the join had been
left too proud for them to fit properly, which resulted in one of them
starting to detach itself from the car somewhere around Cheltenham on
the M5 during the 21st anniversary run.... I rubbed the join down
before fitting the pair I bought when we got to Loddiswell, and sealed
the ends with Sikaflex and they've been fine since
