Just to prove the fuel supply fault, can you gravity feed from a bottle or 
similar to see if the misfire is cured?

I have run engines merely by spraying carb cleaner into the carb intake direct.
I have to say that I did away with a mech pump on my Dolly Sprint and had an 
electric one and a filter king to get just the right pressure (1.5 psi SU carbs 
or 3.5 psi for Weber DCOE).

  Have you checked the filter on the pick up in the tank ? I had the same
