Did you change the rubber hoses as well as the pump?
I’ve got the same air thing in my inline filter and am starting to suspect the 
hoses have gone.
Also is your dizzy cap loose? If the screws aren’t tight then the spark can 
burn out the rotor arm (BTDT).
I’ve found that the dizzy cap screws can get loose as there’s not alot of metal 
to screw into. I cured that with a couple of helicoils.

Guys I'm struggling with my car been a pain in the ****

Spec as follows
2+2, CVH with mechanical fuel pump, manual carb. Nothing fancy.
Fuel filter, non expensive clear type, before the pump.
The only non petrol thing is the fuel tank been a diesel one. This has the take 
off low on the tank.

The problem. I have had problems with either misfiring or cutting out & not 
starting. 
The main problem I can see is that my fuel filter is more full of air than 
fuel. Also I have a lot of bubbles coming into the filter on the suction side. 
I have a new pump & filter. Also I did have a different carb on it which gave 
the same problem.

Any ideas as to why I could be getting this air / bubbles in the fuel filter?
