“If your car was built using xr2 brakes this is what you need to do as non xr2
fiestas had a completely different arrangement and the servo operating cam is
the other way up. “

Actually the difference is pre and post 1986 Fiestas (2 completely different
setups) rather than XR2 or non XR2.
The differences between XR2 and Non XR2 are the brake pedal (pushrod hole in a
different place) and the master cylinder bore, maybe the servo size as well.

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Re: Trying to locate some bits

Hi I too am fitting a mondeo cylinder and servo to my 2+2. I am going to modify
the brackets by cutting and welding in a wedge to make the reservoir
horizontal. If your car was built using xr2 brakes this is what you need to do
as non xr2 fiestas had a completely different arrangement and the servo
operating cam is the other way up. As I said in an earlier post there used to
be full instructions for the mod on the net but these have now been deleted. I
recall there was something about the brake pedal not sitting in the right place
unless the brackets were shortened as well as but I could not find anyone to
confirm this. On my car I have a lot of wiring for the alarm and ecu sitting in
front of the servo brackets and have had to take out the dash to get at the
nuts so it is quite a job. I will let you know how I get on.

Hi, I'm trying to locate some parts to rebuild my Mk1 (Q013) and my 2+2 (the
ex-Jon Caton End-to-End one). They are a bit obscure and ebay has faed me so
far.

Firstly, I cant find the ducting for the dash air vents for the Mk1. It's a
standard XR2 dash and all I need are the two plastic ducts that go from the
heater itself to the fresh-air vents at the far right and left of the dashboard.

Secondly, the master cylinder has failed on the 2+2 and it's the late XR2
type with the inclined servo so I can't get a rebuild kit and I can't find a
new cylinder.

I have managed to get hold of a non-ABS Mondeo Master cylinder and Servo and
was intending to fit them in place of the old ones, but the brackets are all
wrong. I believe that the earlier XR2 and non-XR2 Mk2 Fiestas had upright
servos and that the Mondeo bits bolt up to their brackets with very little
modification. Basically it is the brackets that hold the servo to the bulkhead
that I need. Although if there is anything else that someone who has already
done this modification knows about, then please let me know.

If you have, or know of anyone who has, either the ducts or servo brackets
going spare, please just drop me a line on here. I travel a fair bit so may
well be able to pick up or pay postage, etc.

  Thanks,

  Dave
