WARNING: Be aware that the steel sill reinforcement is *not* "a whacking
great piece of RSJ". It is a relatively thin plated steel box whose shape
in cross section is approx the same as the that of the fibreglass
surrounding it and there have been instances of it rusting away to nothing
due to faulty fibreglass lay-up at the front of it allowing water to
penetrate between the steel and the fibreglass right back to the seat belt
attachment. There is discussion here and there on the Quantum forum and in
particular here
<http://quantumforum.proboards.com/thread/522/quantum-saloon-full-rebuild?page=2>

(my saloon).

On the saloon at least, with the reinforcement in good order you can indeed
safely jack up anywhere along the length of the sill but I would recommend
using a soft rubber pad rather than a wood block as the latter tends to
slip on the smooth surface of the sill.
