When you turn the fan by hand, does it go around in fits and starts? Mine
did so I fitted a new one from car builders solutions. Sooo much better.

Update, the engine is running at a controlled temp now, not changed the
stat... Yet.
The fan is working now which wasn't before.
Would I be right in thinking the fan is compensating for the stat as it
seems to be on once the engine is hot?
My radiator will need replacing soon, you'll see in my previous photo...
