I apologise if you’re already familiar with …….. If (with engine off) you press the brake pedal and keeping it pressed then start the engine, does the pedal go down once the engine has started? If it does then there is some assistance provided by the servo. If it doesn’t the first thing to check is for any air leaks in the vacuum pipe to the servo – If there is a leak this will probably affect the running of the engine anyway. Martin Scott

My recently purchased 2+2 has terrible brakes. I have replaced or refurbished the brake calipers and the pads are good. I purchased a replacement Servo but found it was very different to the original one fitted. I have tried to fit the new servo but find it is different in every sense. Can anyone direct me to, or supply me with, a working servo for a 1986 1600 CVH engined Fiesta or the part number for. Failing a replacement - does anyone know what else it can be - the pressure required to get the brakes to work is as if there is no assistance from the servo. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
