More suggestions for you to test the metronome thing with your soundfont
player:
Try winding the tempo right down, to the ridiculously slow value of 10 bpm.
Then try it. Does the metronome work then?
Try increasing the tempo while your piece is chugging along and see when the
metronome drops out.
You could also try a similar thing by playing very short notes in the drum
track, enter notes that for successively short, from 10 ticks downwards.
See if they cease to play.
Also, try changing the key that the metronome uses (Options, Metronome
dialog): do all notes have the problem?
