Also consider the notes being used for the metronome. They could've gotten changed somehow. I don't know off the top of my head what they should be, though. I don't use synthfont with QWS, but I do use Fluid with Synthfont, and haven't had any percussion problems with it.
I've tried a few different ones. I suspect that SynthFont will correctly synthesize them when playing to a file, but when using it in realtime the note-off event might come too quickly for it, not sure, just a conjecture. I suppose I might as well tackle the other side of this issue and ask SynthFont's community or author about it.
