The performance issue is if the file paths has changed, it takes few seconds to try to find alternative paths to a single file. In a large library a few seconds per file results in very bad performance.
The latest TrackStat version has a possibility to turn of this feature so it only uses a file if it has the exact same path as in Squeezebox Server.
