Don't forget the History the old ip3k based players are *really' thin clients eg the SB3 SB2 transporter and BOOM . These can't do a thing without a server, now we have Radio and Touch that have some processing power on their own .
Now how to make these different products behave with a common interface in a seamless way . They still opted for the client server model of doing it, or more like client-server-mysbs.com com as even the server uses mysbs.com in the background, for localisation account verification for your music services and such. This makes even more sense in a multiplayer setup, how can anyone be content with one squeezebox ;) Then a server and/or mysbs.com as a central hub makes even more sense. You have a common place for configuration and managing your players. If you use a local server you have excellent synchronization of players if you want that (well you can sync via mysbs.com to but don't expect 100% perfect ) -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: SB3 (soon to replaced by a Touch :) It is on preorder) Bedroom/Office: Boom Kitchen: Receiver (soon to be replaced by my SB3 and the SBRto be stuffed in a box in the attic ) I use a Controller various ir-remotes and a Eee-PC with squeezeplay to controll this ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72222 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
