The alternative is having all the compute power to decode streams at the SB Radio. Many on this forum have lived that past and know that running SBS is a superior solution in terms of performance and power. My recommendation is to work on making the machine you run SBS on as power efficient as possible. I use an older ThinkPad running Ubuntu and it uses about as much power as a night light when idling.
