I had the same finding as you did. When connected to the Squeezebox Server, everything worked correctly. Art on Pandora and my Podcasts and on all radio stations worked fine! After shutting down the server, Pandora still provided me with Album Art, but radio stations defaulted back to the "gray tower of death".
I don't even want to think about this problem anymore because it was such a headache, - like a bad dream that never ended!!! Right now, everything is working perfectly. Now, all I have to do is get through the infant component "burn-in".
